Roy Zimmerman in Concert
September 23rd at 7:30pm at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Madison County, 1081 Willis Branch Road, Richmond, KY 40475
$18 or whatever you could pay. Percentage of proceeds go to UUFMC.
"This Machine" is ninety minutes of Roy Zimmerman's hilarious, rhyme-intensive original songs. The title is a reference to Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger to be sure, but also an acknowledgement that songwriting does good work in the world. "Sometimes I think satire is the most hopeful and heartfelt form of expression," says Roy, "because in calling out the world's absurdities and laughing in their face, I'm affirming the real possibility for change." Roy's songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime. He's shared stages with Bill Maher, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, John Oliver, Kate Clinton and George Carlin. He's been profiled on NPR's "All Things Considered," and he's a featured blogger for the Huffington Post.

Children and Animals
Below is yet another news piece about a child coming to harm by a large wild animal. The jury is out on who to blame in all the incidents of late, but praises to this mom for literally prying her child from the jaws of death.
Please be aware of your surroundings and the possibility of encountering a large *potentially dangerous* animal, be they caged or not. Humans need to be cautious and respectful of nature at all times.
On a personal note, my heart weeps for the loss and trauma suffered by these families, but I have shed tears for the loss of the animals as well. We are all part of Earth's family. Humans do not stand above Nature, we are part of it and must seek balance. ~Rev. Barbara.

Jesus Christ Superstar
Concert & Community Sing
presented by Motherlodge & Clear Creek Creative in partnership with Union Church Berea
Friday, Mar, 25 2016 07:30 PM
Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice's rock opera was originally created as a concept album during the social & political upheaval of the late 60s with themes that are still relevant today. Clear Creek & Motherlodge are honored to co-present the music of this influential work in an immersive format that expands the possibilities for musical participation.
There can never be too many voices in a Motherlodge live arts exchange -- audience members who arrive at 6:30 p.m. will have an opportunity to rehearse with the choir. So join local guest singers, musicians and other community members alongside the all-star Motherlodge band led by Ray Rizzo to rock out with Jesus Christ Superstar on Good Friday!

Harper Lee Has Died At 89
The author of To Kill a Mockingbird has passed. I felt this was appropriate to share as her book has been read by nearly every public school child and we have that collective memory of Scout and Atticus tucked away in the folds of our middle school subconscious.

Woman Looking For Missing Little Free Library
The above story so saddened me and it sparked my curiosity. What is a Little Free Library? So, I looked up their website littlefreelibrary.org to learn more and even discovered one is in my town.
This is close to my heart because, though we are not part of this program, Garden Source does have its own free lending library (which we will be attending to during our next fellowship) and share the love of books with these folks.
Check it out. Is there a Little Free near you?
Wishing you all warmth and love,
Rev. Barbara
