Roy Zimmerman in Concert

September 23rd at 7:30pm at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Madison County, 1081 Willis Branch Road, Richmond, KY 40475

$18 or whatever you could pay. Percentage of proceeds go to UUFMC.

"This Machine" is ninety minutes of Roy Zimmerman's hilarious, rhyme-intensive original songs.  The title is a reference to Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger to be sure, but also an acknowledgement that songwriting does good work in the world.  "Sometimes I think satire is the most hopeful and heartfelt form of expression," says Roy, "because in calling out the world's absurdities and laughing in their face, I'm affirming the real possibility for change."  Roy's songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime.  He's shared stages with Bill Maher, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, John Oliver, Kate Clinton and George Carlin.  He's been profiled on NPR's "All Things Considered," and he's a featured blogger for the Huffington Post.

Garden Council and Fellowship Cancelled for this Sunday

Due to a suspected potential exposure to the disease Rubella (German Measles) we are cancelling our GSSC meeting for this Sunday September 11th. We care too much for the immuno-compromised individuals in our group and in the greater community to take any unnecessary risks. May everyone rest and be well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubella
We will meet again on Sunday the 9th of October and we will then be discussing our community outreach, The Homeless Hookers project. http://homelesshookers.org.

Arts Festival and Upcoming Fellowship

Hope this note finds you all well.  Just discovered that Mitch Barrett will be playing with Zoe Speaks at the Fall Arts Festival in Frankfort's Josephine Sculpture Park this coming Sunday, September 11.  Click Here for more Info.  And that just happens to be the same day as our next Council Meeting and Fellowship.  So, if you can't make it out to join us in Lexington, we hope you can find some fun and community near your own backyard.

This month we will be discussing our community outreach the Homeless Hookers project.  We make scarves, hats, and blankets for people in need of warmth during the colder seasons.  Click the link to learn more and come out to see us to get a look at our work in progress and see how you can pitch in.  Yarn and hooks will be available to use during the fellowship for anyone wishing to try their hand at crochet, maybe even knitting.  If you know of anyone needing our help, please drop an email to info@homelesshookers.org. Fellowship begins at 5 PM at Sandra's home and you are always welcome to join us at 3 PM for our Council Meeting.  Need directions or have any questions, please send an email to GardenSourceSC@gmail.com.

Enjoy this beautiful weather and hope to see you Sunday!

How Hunter-Gatherers Maintained Their Egalitarian Ways: Three Complementary Theories

Please enjoy this blog shared with me.  What are your thoughts on how and if we should be more like Hunter-Gatherers?  What theory do you agree with?  Why?

Bright Blessings.
